I have seen several translations, such as well as bosques tropicales but in my search bosques tropicales was the most popular term. Now, is it the most correct term? Depends on whether the rainforest to which you are referring is tropical or temperate, I suppose. Bosques tropicales would probably not be appropriate for a temperate rainforest (e.g. the Tsongas National Forest in Alaska, U.S.A.)

bosques tropicales lluviosos

bosques lluviosos

selvas tropicales

bosques húmedos

selvas tropicales húmedas

selvas pluviales

Now where are those 'round the world' hispanohablantes/moderators to correct me? - Xocoyote, Feb 14, 2012
I am trying to talk about the forests that produce oxygen and also where the orangutanes are suffering because their natural food is disappearing. Now I have several choices, thanks - caza, Feb 14, 2012
Then "bosques tropicales" seems like the most appropriate. Thanks, CoffeeLate! - Xocoyote, Feb 14, 2012

My choice would be

Selvas húmedas.

However, xocoyote has given you many more choices.

I think rain forests require a minimum of 100 inches of rain per year, and all forests in the tropics do not get that. Well, I'm officially in the sub-tropics and I know that some of our forests do get 100 inches and some don't. The ones that don't are not called rain forests.

And you don't want to them to be if you live in them and think you're going to dry clothes on the line!

When we were in Costa Rica, we encountered the distinction between bosques lluviosos and bosques nublados (like Monteverde).
