And how will i know when to use each in a sentence?

Use Ser for:

-Nationality & place of origin.

-Profession.

-Generalizations.

-Possession

-Time and date.

Use Estar for:

-Location.

-Physical, emotional states and health.

-Weather.

-Ongoing actions.
