Can I say:

Mi amiga venga pronto y estoy emocionada de verla!

when I want to say:

My friend is coming soon and I'm excited to see her!

or vendrá, but the present tense (indicative) is more common - 0074b507, Feb 10, 2012

venga is not correct here I believe as it is the present subjunctive and imperative of venir, and there is no subjunctive clause or indication of doubt, nor command indicated in the sentence.

Viene is correct, or as Qfreed suggested vendrá, but this puts the action more into the future.

Anything in progressive would indicate at the very moment this is being spoken.

The only way to use subjunctive as you have attempted would be to indicate a wish, ie: "Ojalá que venga mi amiga."

I spoke with a friend who is a native speaker. She said that it can be said in either of the following ways:

Mi amiga viene pronto y estoy bien emocionada para verla. or Mi amiga va a venir pronto y estoy bien emocionada para verla.

My reply will need verification by a more advanced student, but:

Is coming ==>" está viniendo" or "viene"

The subjunctive "venga" does not fit this sentence. One requirement of the subjunctive is that it appears in the second clause of a two clause sentence.

I think that it would be:

Mi amiga está viniendo pronto y estoy emocionada de verla.

But I would wait for a native speaker to answer.

That is incorrect. The progressive tense does not refer to future time (in Spanish). The "soon" tells us that this refers to future time, not present time (is coming now) - 0074b507, Feb 10, 2012
