I always found it interesting that there used to be articles on stress and intonation on this site, but none telling you the rules for breaking words in syllables. Hard to do one without knowing both. - 0074b507, Feb 7, 2012

I would also highly recommend "Fundamentals of Spanish Grammar" which is out of print, but can be bought online. It has a very nice informative section on the same topic as well as many others.
