What is the difference between "sabes" and "sabéis"

What is the difference between "sabes" and "sabéis"

Hey... when I learned Spanish, I always learned the present 'tu' ending was -as, -es, etc depending on the verb. I've been looking at some native speakers from Spain, and I noticed they have added an 'i' and an accented e. Like for poder, it was podéis. My assumption is that this is added if the verb ends in a 'feminine' ending? Help me out here.

Thanks!

Sabes is used to address a single person: tú (=you)

Sabéis is used (only in Spain) to address two or more people: vosotros/as (=you guys)

Oooh, much simpler than I thought. Thanks! And dang that was fast. Ah, and that makes sense -- I thought vosotros was not used as frequently. - newamerykahn, Feb 7, 2012

By the way, Spanish verbs are not inflected for gender in any way (though for the 3rd person one can use a gender related pronoun).

I know that, samdie. I didn't mean "gender" as in sex.. I meant masculine ending or feminine.. i.e More like strong and soft is what I meant, as I based this on reading something else I had rd. - newamerykahn, Feb 7, 2012

This is an old post so you may never see this, but Lazarus got it wrong. Vosotros is Ustedes. Vos is tu. Sabeis is just like Sabes and if you're addressing two people or more, you use Saben. Vosotros saben, Ustedes saben, Tu sabes, Tu sabeis, Vos sabes, Vos sabeis. Hope this helps.

Actually in Spain, vosotros is different from ustedes in that it is less formal: vosotros is the plural of tú, like ustedes is the plural of usted. - Suzanne_Romijnders, Jun 15, 2015
Vos is not used in Spain, and ´vosotros saben´ or ´vos sabéis´ are only correct in certain regions of Spanish America. - Suzanne_Romijnders, Jun 15, 2015
Also, please be careful with the accents. tu = your, possesive, tu perro es lindo. tú = you, personal pronoun, tú tienes un perro. =) - Suzanne_Romijnders, Jun 15, 2015
