Más recio - How common is this?
Last summer I worked the fireworks booth for my daughter's ex-high school basketball team fund raiser. She graduated 3 years ago, so I'm not sure why I still do this, but that's another story.
Anyway, here in Southern California many of our customers speak Spanish as a first language. When one mother with her teenage son came up to the booth I could tell from listening to them that they did. It was really loud and the boy spoke very softly. I said, "Lo siento. No puedo oirte con todo el ruido." The mother told the son, "Más recio, hijito."
I knew what she was saying, but I think that's the only time I've ever heard it put that way. I've heard más alto and más fuerte. Is más recio a more common way of telling someone to speak up?

No, It isn't. It sound like something a Mexican or maybe an Argentine would say. (not sure) It would be common in they country in that case, but in my experience with people from those countries, it's not common.
