We're covering qué vs. cuál in my Spanish class, and I don't understand why part of this homework is the answer it is:

4) ¿Sabes cuál de éstos es mi disco favorito?

6) ¿Cuáles trajiste, las de chocolate o las de limón?

Originally, I had those answers as cuáles and cuál, respectively. I understand why #6 was wrong however, since #6 is plural why is #4 not?

If you have several options to choose from, "cuál" would be just one among many, while "cuáles" would be several among many.

¿Cuál de estos...? = Which one of these...?

¿Cuáles de estos...? = Which ones of these...?

"Las de chocolate", for example, refers to several options (the chocolate ones) among many (all possible flavours), so you use "cuáles".

Gracias, Lazarus. I was assuming that was probably why, but I wanted to be sure. :) - Jadey7, Feb 6, 2012
