I think this is what I hear Dora say when I watch with my kids.

And what Paralee says at the beginning of each lesson. I've always thought it meant 'vamos' but she 'dragged the pronunciation'. Thanks for asking! - mathslover, Feb 5, 2012

Vamos is the nosotros command form of "ir".

Vámonos is actually the nosotros command form of "irse".

When you add "nos" to the end of a nosotros affirmative command form, you first drop the "s":

¡Vamos! = Let's go!

Vamos - s + nos = ¡Vámonos! = Let's go away! or Let's leave!

I added to mine, too... Let's take ourselves... let's go away... let's leave. Ir is about going... irse is about leaving. :) - Tosh, Feb 5, 2012

Tosh is right about vámanos being the command form of irse

Vamos = Let's go (from the verb ir = to go)

ex's Vamos al cine esta noche = We are going / Let's go ...... to the to the cinema tonight.

Vámonos = Let's leave (from the verb irse leave/to go away: to move from one place with the intention of going to another place)

Ex's: Me voy = I am leaving/going away

Nos vamos = We are leaving/going away

I hope this helpssmile
