Are you kidding me? This is so florid. And they are talking about football! Maybe it's because I am used to Mexican Spanish, but this seems a bit over the top. This is my general take. You have the general idea with the part you asked about. All the references to "freezing" and "lunar landscapes" are referring to how cold it's been in Europe this winter.
Madrid Deserves More
