The standard scientific way to abbreviate centímetro / centimeter / c???????? / ?? / ??????? is always cm, regardless of the language and the context. The SI system of units is designed to be standardized and easy to use.

Yep, SI = Système international, and was established in the 1960's. It is ALMOST universally used --- with the United States the only industrialized nation not to use the metric system. What a pity!! - CaliforniaDreamer, Feb 4, 2012
True, but many of their university textooks (and many good universities) are increasingly shifting towards SI. - lazarus1907, Feb 4, 2012
Science and engineering in the United States use S I almost exclusively. Even beverages come in S I bottles. Try to buy a quart of wine or a half gallon of Coca Cola. Milk is one of the rare exceptions. - KevinB, Feb 4, 2012

From la Wikipedia:

El centímetro (símbolo cm) es una unidad de longitud. Es el segundo submúltiplo del metro y equivale a la centésima parte de él.

1 cm = 0,01 m = 10?2 m

I've always seen cm in both languages.
