In an email to my young niece in San Diego, how should I write a salutation that means "Love, Aunt Michaela"?

Yes, in English we usually do.

However, in letters the salutation refers to the opening greeting: Dear Sir, To whom it may concern, Dear Colleague,, Ladies and Gentleman in a speech. etc.

  • Love,
  • Aunt Michaela

Is usually considered part of the Closing or Signature block.

Hi and welcome to the forum. You could say:

Dearest Jane,

I miss you and hope to see you soon.

Love,

Aunt Michaela
