Dios vs Alá

What is the difference between "alá" and "dios"?

I would presume that, like English, alá would be used by Muslims, and dios by Christians (although, Muslims in English often will say God, but an English-speaking non-Muslim would never refer to God as Allah, unless the speaker came from an Arabic-dominated culture, like Jews and Christians in the Middle East).

Dios is the general word for "God" so it could, likely, be used by someone almost any religion but Alá would be specific to Muslims. This, however, is just a guess based on how English works. I'd wait for more answers to come. - Jadey7, Feb 4, 2012
Good question, by the way, and welcome to the forum! :) - Jadey7, Feb 4, 2012

That's correct. Muslims use the term Allah (usually written like this) since the pronunciation itself is sacred and blessed for them ,but this term is used only in informal writing like forums and personal messeges, but in official documents, the term God is used according to its English origin. I hope this helps.
