Pluscuamperfecto: Ya había subido en avión

Question

Cuando Victoria hizo un viaje largo sola, ya había subido en avión.

or ya había subido sobre un avión or

is this sentence gramatically correct ,? I'm a bit worried about the preposition use... 'en avion' bit....

@Jeremías: Subir al avión, subir a bordo del avión = to board a plane

Maybe it should be 'ya había subido en un avión'.

"She had already boarded a plane"

@Vic: It's not the preposition what is incorrect, but the verb you've chosen. It's indeed "en", but it's not "subir + en"

Subir en avión doesn't exist. It must be, "ir en avión, volar en avión, viajar en avión"= to fly, or "subir a un avión"= to board

So:

Cuando Victoria emprendió el largo viaje sola, ya había ido/viajado/volado en avión (con anterioridad)

This means she already had flown before, it was not her first time.

Is this what you are trying to say?

Is it 'a avión'? I thought that because avion begins with a vowel then we couldn't use 'a'. For instance, ya había montado una bicicleta - here you would use the indefinate article....oh my, i'm so confused.....Maybe it should be 'ya había subido en un avión'.

It would be (I think)

ya había subido a avión.

Or

...ya había subido a bordo el avión,
