Here are the words that we are to use in the sentences. cerrar comenzar pedir pensar poder preferir querer volver
I got 4 - 8 correct. I gave two different meanins for 1 - 3 using the same verb but got the answer wrong. I am assuming that mama is used as él/ella/usted is why I chose comineza (stem from cerrar).
1.Está empezando a hacer frío. Mi mamá comienza comprar un abrigo. 2.Hace mucho sol. (Tú) piensas a buscar tus gafas de sol. 3.Hace fresco. Melissa pueden salir a pasear en bicicleta.
4.Está nevando. (Yo) prefiero estar en casa hoy. 5.Está lloviendo. Luis y Pilar cierran las ventanas del auto. 6.Hace mucho calor. Ustedes quieren ir a nadar en la piscina. 7.Está nublado. Los chicos vuelven temprano de la playa. 8.Llueve. Los turistas piden un impermeable en el hotel.

I think that comenzar makes more sense in #2 (You begin looking for your sunglasses), and pensar fits better in #1 (My mother intends to buy a coat). In #3, poder needs to be conjugated for third-person singular, not plural.
