Just want to make sure I'm understanding. So, if "Dije estar seguro" means "I said I'm sure", would "Dijo estar seguro" mean "He said he's sure"? Or "Dije ir a casa" --> "I said I'm going home"? Would "Dije que estoy seguro" ever be acceptable? - Goldie_Miel, Feb 2, 2012

Only if you say FOR EXAMPLE

"Yo, dije estar seguro DE ESO (about that)" if you want to say that you were sure about something you told in the past. It's not usual...

I hope it helps you smile

Call me dumb, but what does that mean? "I said to be sure"? If so, it doesn't sound right to me, I would use the subjunctive.

It means " I said I was sure". It does sounds right to me, and if you used subjunctive, you would butcher the sentence. - cogumela, Feb 2, 2012

dije estar seguro

No, that is not a grammatically correct sentence.

It needs more or different words.

It also needs to begin with a capital letter and end with a period.
