It is better to have a few good friends....

I'm having a bit of trouble with a letter to my cousin. For the phrase "It is better to have a few good friends, than lots of friends you don't know well" would the translation be:

"Es mejor tener unos pocos amigos buenos, que tener muchos amigos que no se conoce bien"

I'm a huge spanish novice so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Muchas gracias, Dom

EDIT- The 'you' isn't personal, i mean as in "that one doesn't know well"

The sentence may be: Es mejor tener pocos buenos amigos, que muchos amigos que no no conozcas bien.

I think that you have done very well as a beginner wink smile grin

I would say: Es mejor tener pocos buenos amigos que muchos amigos que no conozcas bien

Normally the adjective buenos would follow the noun but in this case I think it precedes it.

I am not a native so I suggest that you wait for confirmation and to see what others post

I hope this helps grin grin
