Mexico City 4 - Coyoacán
Here is another installment of our trip last spring to Mexico City.
If you read the Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver, the fictitious protagonist, El Insólito, first encounters Frida Kahlo in the market of Coyoacán, a separate pueblo south of Mexico City. It is a separate village no more, as it has been devoured by the relentless churn of people that has caused the infill of almost everything within reach of the Distrito Federal. It is still a beautiful part of Mexico City, the buildings look different, the feel of the streetscape is different. This is where we visited the Casa Azul, and afterwards we wandered the streets, visited the market, had some incredible coffee at a famous coffee place whose name I just now cant remember, and had a little ice cream, riquísimo. In the main plazuelo we saw a beautiful young girl celebrating her quinceañera, and the party all exited from a Morris Mini stretch limo, you just had to be there to believe it.
A beautiful Mexican girl and her somewhat awkward chaperones exits a stretch limo version of a Mini Morris to walk to the beautiful church in the Plazuela of Coyoacán.
The quinceañera party heads to the ancient church.
The plazuela on a hot spring day. Lovers and friends disfrutando todo.
The famous mercado in Coyoacán.
Piles of fresh made mole - we bought about 10 kilos home with us!
Street scene at the edge of the plazuela.
If this gives anyone the urge to visit Mexico City, write me and I'll give you suggestions. ¡Suerte!

Very nice pictures ¡¡¡ but ten kilos of mole is a lot of mole !!! hahahaha in my home we bought only 500 g (a little more than a pound). And is enough to cook for 5 o 6 person (500 g of mole and 1.0 kg of chicken). It is great that your travel to my city was a good experience to you.
Wow, a wedding, very nice pictures
