Mexican Drinking Songs

Hello,

I am building a new website with the world's greatest drinking songs and free sheet music. I know there are great Mexican drinking songs, but finding the sheet music is difficult. I wanted to know if there is a specific term used to identify "drinking songs" in Mexico (cancion de la cantina or canciones de borracho for example). Every term I search for doesn't give me any good results.

Also, is there a better term for "sheet music" other than partitura?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You should do a search for "rancheras" and "corridos". While the definition of ranchera and corrido is not that of "drinking song", there is very frequently a great deal of alcohol and drunkeness involved in the stories.

And they are excellent songs for singing when extremely drunk.

This one is a good example: Juan Charrasqueado. You can even read the lyrics there. grin

Thanks. I am looking for songs sung by people in bars. There is a tradition of pub songs, particularly in Ireland, Scotland and England where groups of people sing traditional folk songs. I'm not necessarily looking for songs about drinking. =) - unifiedac, Jan 31, 2012
I know what you mean. I don't think I'm leading you astray with my recommendation. It's just that Mexican drinking songs are different from English drinking songs. - Gekkosan, Jan 31, 2012
