Conjugation of the verb decir to "di"

Conjugation of the verb decir to "di"

I am reading a spanish and english bible. I have found where it translates say into "di". I do not find this in the decir conjugation table and cannot see how dar can be related to this especially since it is a command for the future, and di is the preterite for dar. Please help.

It is the informal tú command.

Bottom right of the chart (imperative):

My new goal in life is to come up with a joke that takes advantage of "di" being both the preterite for dar and the imperative for decir smile
