Preocupar

to worry, to bother, to concern

Special thanks to ZHMelissa for the idea for this word

This thread is kindly moderated by Dr, Vicente. Please correct your posts according to Dr. Vicente's indications and suggestions, and of course use the corrections to learn from your errors! smile.

Posts which will not be corrected or accepted:
• Captions with 3 words or less
• Paragraphs should not be longer than 1 1/2 lines but can have up to 3 line for practice.
• Posts which make no sense in either language
• Posts which consist mainly of lyrics or idioms which do not translate.
• Captions copied directly from books or other sources.
• Multiple posts from one person, or those who don't write the sentences in both English and Spanish.
Remember to correct your posts as suggested or they can NOT be "accepted".
Do not use subject pronouns in Spanish
Please refrain from overloading with graphic content (ie; bold smileys, etc). It makes it harder for the correctors to be able to read your posts…. )

My Example:

No debería preocuparse por el futuro – probablemente sus pensamientos no van a ayudar la situación, y va a arruinarse el presento.

You shouldn't worry about the future, it probably won't help, and you are just going to ruin the present.

muy rebuscado, try to put the English easier or more colloquial: thinking about it won't help, and you are going to ruin your present. - 00494d19, Jan 30, 2012
jaja - that does sound a lot better in English.... :) Thanks!!! :) - 001a2987, Jan 30, 2012
Rebuscado. Good word. Thanks Heidi! (and Chris, of course!) - MLucie, Jan 30, 2012

Primera regla:No te preocupes de las cosas pequeñas.

Segunda regla:Todo es una cosa pequeña.

First rule: Don't worry about the small stuff.

Second rule:It's all small stuff.

preocupo es muerte,si eres muerto , no es necesaria a preocupo.

If you are healthy , then nothing to worry about , if you are sick , only thing to worry

about is death, if you are dead then no need to worry.

Soy tanto preocupo para estar correcta , que olvido a tener la razón.

Corrected , -Me preocupo tanto de ser corregido que me olvido de tener razón .

I worry about your sister's state of mind. She has been faffing about in the courtyard for ten minutes

Are you hungry? Don’t worry, let's have a slice of Spanish tortilla to stop getting hungry! (or do you say to kill the little worm?)

Corrected: Don’t worry, let's have a slice of Spanish tortilla to fill your stomach!

Other possibilities: Don’t worry, let's have a slice of Spanish tortilla to stop/kill the hunger pangs/satiate your hunger.

¿Tienes hambre? ¡No te preocupes, vamos a tomarnos un pincho de tortilla para matar el gusanillo!
