Please, please, please..... make corrections to your posts!!!
I am asking those of you who regularly post responses in Word and Picture of the Day and all manner of threads including Heidis and Kiwi's games to please correct your responses! This is not intended as a moan ....but a respectful request!
I now appreciate much more fully how it feels for correctors/moderators of threads like Heidi, Cogumela, Gintar, and others to offer corrections only to find that many days, if not weeks later, many people have not even bothered to look and say thank you even less make any corrections! It can be quite soul destroying as someone who corrects to find that people have not even bothered to make the corrections that you have spent much time considering and writing out .
I am not going to name names but apart from the thraeds mentioned I have recently been correcting the thread Aelborady's game thread; ''Countries we love'' - and it takes some considerable time to think how best to word the corrections - and several people have not even bothered to correct them ...do they still want to learn from their mistakes? Well, I certainly hope so ![]()

I agree completely with the sentiments expressed here , but I must ask you
to be aware of the time constraints that some are under. For example-
I have been working on posts since about 1 PM on and off , it is now 11 PM
and I shall be going to bed in about 30 minutes , I will not be able to get
back on the internet for another 12 hours , whilst most of you have been
on SD during your day and seeing my posts go uncorrected , I have been told
" Ray you never correct your posts for about 15 hours " . There is nothing
I can do about that ,I try to get back as quickly as possible , sometimes
they slip out of reach , but I do try , but we work in opposing time zones. ![]()
Good post Feliz and I fully agree with you.
If people don't correct their posts they are not only being lazy, but actually insulting to the corrector. Correcting people can take some considerable time. You have to read and re-read at times to make sure that you fully understand what the person is trying to say so that any corrections are meaningful and helpful. This is not always easy because if you were to write the sentence in your own language you would probably phrase it completely differently.
Also, I personally prefer to see the original and the corrected sentences together on the post. That way you can clearly see what mistakes were made and how the corrections alter the sentence. I appreciate that we each have our own style though.
Finally, a massive thank you to all our correctors here. You are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ray and annie, feliz is not talking about correcting the post right away...it is being responsible and check for corrections whereever you have posted, mostly on games.
It is easy to find your posts, go to questions answered, and check the games at least![]()
I couldn't agree more,
Please correct your post and don't forget to say thanks
Most of the members do correct the posts, but some just don't go back to their posts, so they sit there without being corrected. Correctors often have to remind the poster to do so.
and Please say "thanks" to the corrector, it only takes a second![]()
I opened a similar thread some time ago, if you are new, please have a look.
This is one of the things I mentioned there:
I just got this message from a former corrector:
that was what peed me off most
not people using the translator
but people not bothering to say thanks
and not even bothering to CORRECT the sentence it's quite nice you are worried about people not saying thank you
I thought I was being petty
but it REALLY got on my nerves I was always somewhat shocked that people corrected and then didnt' have 2 seconds to say thanks
I'm 100% agree with the principle:
1- I usually (not always) go back and correct my posts, but the problem is that I correct my sentence itself whereas my mistakes disappear. Thank you billygoat for focusing on the idea of keeping the original sentence and insert the new corrected one according to the notes of the correctors. this is better for comparison in future.
2- I usually say thanks to the correctors but in my mind; in my heart, and often don't say that explicitly! Again this is a mistake. One should show others his/her expressions and greetings to them, so on behalf of my previous posts: infinite thanks

It goes without saying Feliz, this is a good post. Thank you for reminding everyone.
Yes, thanks for the reminder. And although I am not able to use the strike out for some reason, I do leave the original sentence and add the corrected sentence. I think that is very useful and a great teaching tool for everyone. Thanks again for our great correctors. You are all the best.
.............Nothing to say more than I agree with you like all the others.
........One thing more I will say , I hope you do not mean me my friend ![]()
.....................I promise I will do the best I can ever after.

Hey!
After spending a considerable amount of time offering corrections, it is clear to me which people appreciate, take notice of, and learn from them.
For me, it's not necessary that you say thanks each time you correct your post, and if some day you forget to correct, that's completely understandable.
With newbies, it's normal to be a bit more patient.
The only thing I don't like is people who never correct their posts, they just don't revise them, and if they do, they still have something to say (and it's never "thanks")
Wow! I thought this was a sight for helping people learn. Having the corrector post the sentence correctly below the original intnet might help peolple see the difference between what was originally posted and the correct way of saying it. - gringojrf
The corrections are posted in comments, then the member is expected to correct his OWN post. We HELP here, you are quite right, we do not do the work FOR you![]()
No problem. Me voy de este sitio. Buena suerte. - gringojrf
Just offering some corrections, amigo![]()
I would like it more if the original
text was left intact and an addition was made to the post by the corrector something like the example below.
So you expect the corrector not only to point out your mistake but also correct it, rewriting your sentence or post?
wow!
It shows you are not a corrector![]()
Sorry if I don't ever give my thanks for a correction. Most of the time after i post I forget about it and usually don't go back to it. I really appreciate the time and effort that y'all put into correcting our posts. So,

Thank you billygoat for focusing on the idea of keeping the original sentence and insert the new corrected one according to the notes of the correctors. this is better for comparison in future.
This is great if you REALLY mess up a post. But for a word, or two, you can always use the "strike" out to show the errors:
La el clima de Florida es muy cálida cálido.
And yes, thank you to all the correctors! I have corrected only one thread here in English and it can definitely be time-consuming.... especially when they do it every day.
Just a suggestion.
I would like it more if the original text was left intact and an addition was made to the post by the corrector something like the example below.
Translation: Mi perro comieron mi tarea.
Corrected by Gringojrf: Mi perro comío mi tarea.
That way the corrected version would appear along with the original post and there would be no risk of posts going uncorrected or the original poster misunderstanding what the corrector was trying to accomplish.
This could go a step further if the corrector what to add a another way of expressing the same thing.
Translation: Mi perro comieron mi tarea.
Corrected by Gringojrf: Mi perro comío mi tarea.
Alternative by Gringojrf: Mi tarea fue comido por mi perro.
Just a thought.
