Believe it or not I was considering the present perfect tense. - 0074b507, Jan 29, 2012
You just have to give me a few minutes to rethink and edit my replies, because I never consider what I wrote until I read it later. - 0074b507, Jan 29, 2012
By the way, I saw the correct answer by looking at a song We are lost! that was translated. It all takes time. - 0074b507, Jan 29, 2012
nos perdimos would be acceptable too, here in Madrid we hardly ever use the past simple - 00494d19, Jan 29, 2012

¡Nos perdemos! ¿Dónde está la calle Venice?

Commonly when Spanish uses a transitive verb like perder, it uses a pronominal (reflexive) form to make it intransitive.

clipped online:

Lo que pasa cuando nos perdemos en el bosque

However, ¡Estamos perdidos! seems more suitable there. (describing a condition or situation with an adjective, rather than a verb.

Slightly related to the original question, I learned a useful phrase the other day:

Ir bien para llegar a...: to go the right/correct way to get to a place.
¿Voy bien para llegar a...? Am I going the right way to get to...?
