I can't find it when I searched for it. I know it is not related to "caballo.'

It's Yegua if you mean a mare. I've heard it used to describe a beautiful woman I once knew in Barcelona but perhaps the nickname was a one-off used for her only.

yegua = mare, potra and potranca = filly or young mare. My workers rarely or never use the latter two, but they use yegua a lot.

Are any words more special than others?

In a sense yes. There's the generic 'horse', and there's the special case of 'mare', or adult female horse. - KevinB, Jan 28, 2012
Mare is more specific than horse but I'm not sure that that makes it any more special... - afowen, Jan 28, 2012
