Actualmente

these days, nowadays, at the present moment Please NOTE: it does NOT mean **actually**!!!

If you have ideas for good words, please send me a PM – I will make it a future word of the day.

This thread is kindly moderated by drvicente. Please correct your posts according to drvicente’s indications and suggestions, and of course use the corrections to learn from your errors! smile.

Posts which will not be corrected or accepted:
• Captions with 3 words or less
• Paragraphs should not be longer than 1 1/2 lines but can have up to 3 line for practice.
• Posts which make no sense in either language
• Posts which consist mainly of lyrics or idioms which do not translate.
• Captions copied directly from books or other sources.
• Multiple posts from one person, or those who don't write the sentences in both English and Spanish.
Remember to correct your posts as suggested or they can NOT be "accepted".
Do not use subject pronouns in Spanish
Please refrain from overloading with graphic content (ie; bold smileys, etc). It makes it harder for the correctors to be able to read your posts…. )

My Example:

Actualmente, estoy seguro de que podría sobrevivir en un país de habla hispana sin duda, pero sé que es posible que pueda estar decepcionado…

Currently I am sure that I could survive in a Spanish speaking country without a doubt, but I know that it is possible that I could be disappointed.

very true Nicole! Hey just wondering if you need the 'a' or if 'looking at' is included in mirar? a bit like buscar including the 'for' je je :) - Kiwi-Girl, Jan 24, 2012
Es verdad! Just an English correction - 'their' not 'there' - jennysk, Jan 24, 2012
Kiwi's Right :) Sam looks at his phone. Sam = subject, phone = drect object. No "a" needed with inanimate direct objects, but if instead of phone you had "Olivia" the DO would be a person so you'd need "a". I always forget to actually do this! - rabbitwho, Jan 24, 2012

These days they say that 60 is yesterday's 40, but is it also not true that today's 6 is yesterday's 16?

Actualmente puedes hablar a gente en el otro lado del mundo a través de Internet... pero creo que cara a cara todavía es mejor.

Nowadays you can talk to people on the other side of the world through the Internet... but I think face to face is still better.

In English you would just say the train "is" late. - rabbitwho, Jan 24, 2012
Well you could say arrives, but here it would mean the train is always late, and even then it's better to say "the train is always late" than "the train arrives late". - rabbitwho, Jan 24, 2012

mmmmm, i'll try doing it 100% myself.

Before decades, to have a car was luxury thing, but nowadays it's mandatory.

Antes varios decenios, tener un coche era de lujo, pero actualmente lo es de obligación.

Nice, and it does seem that way. Regarding the English, "Before decades" isn't right. You could say "Decades ago", but "Years ago" would sound more natural. Also, "was a luxury". The rest is great. - Jeremias, Jan 24, 2012
good job, mndeen, we can always tell, jeje, this is your own work, the only way to learn, way to go;) - 00494d19, Jan 24, 2012
