Another question RE el cual la cual

Ok I thought I had it but maybe not

I see this restrictive clause thing and it makes me think.

Los habitantes, quines se llaman Geros, se sienten.......

This appears to be a restrictive clause eh? So it would really be "Los cuales" not "quienes" there right?

And also,

Hay convenciones y exhibicionnes durante las cuales se muestra al mundo lo mejor.........

That is not a restrictive clause right? So is the las cuales or que? I thought las cuales followed durante but maybe it doesn't? or does it always?

I thought el cual / la cual always followed durante instead of que but that may be bad thinking.

What about this: Las flores que crecen en el jardín son hermosas. Now with a restricted phrase:

Las flores, las cuales crecen en el jardín, son hermosas.

Do both of these work but you use the "las cuales" when it's in the middle of a phrase like that?

I'm sorry, since I don't know grammar I cannot debate about clauses, etc.

But:

Hay convenciones y exhibicionnes durante las cuales que se muestra al mundo lo mejor.........

you draw your conclusions... (keeping in mind that I might be correct, as I am a user only)

This does not look at all to me like a restrictive clause. To be restrictive it should mean that there are many inhabitants and that some of them are called "Geros" (i.e. you are restricting your observation to some of the inhabitants).

Similar problem. Are you merely offering additional information about these exhibitions (which I take to be the case) or are you distinguishing them from those exhibitions which don't display the best of ... ?

So assuming "las que" is not an option then "que" is still preferable to "las cuales" because in order to use las cuales one would need a clause or something like that?
