"I love you" translates two ways... "te amo" which is a kind of exagerated "i love you", like you might see in a soap opera... And "te quiero" which is a more natural," I love you"...but to say "i like you" you would say "me caes bien"...this is I like you, as a friend, it doesnt imply a romantic attraction.
