Do you make pelirrojo or pelo rubio plural? Also, do you always use the article with única?

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Taking the second first, único can be a noun or a adjective. As a noun, you would always use the article (I am trying to think of an exception, and they may exist; but generally that's a true statement). As an adjective, it doesn't take an article.

As to the first, pelirrojo, meaning redhead, can also be either a noun or an adjective. In either case, it can be either singular or plural.

To be honest with you, I am having a hard time understanding your questions. Here is how you would make the plural for both masculine and feminine.

  1. Pelirrojo = Pelirrojos (Red hair male/s)
  2. Pelirroja = Pelirrojas (Red hair female/s)
  3. Pelo rubio, or cabello rubio (Blond hair) This applies to both male and female.

Please note that Pelo rubio, or cabello rubio.

The correct expression can also change depending on the structure of the sentence you are using. I.E Todos sus hijos/as son pelirrojos/as (All her sons/daughters have red hair.

  • Ellos/Ellas son rubios/as. (They are blond hair)
  • Ellos/Ellas tienen cabellos rubio.. (They have blond hair) Here the expression "blond" is masculine for both because the adjective is attached to "hair" which is a masculine word.

Regarding the "única", I have no idea what is you actual question.

According to the rae, único is only an adjective. To use it as a noun, it needs lo to perform the función sustantivadora.
