Pedir cita o reservar cita is also used.

I'm agree with tiquismiquis.

The informal way and the most common in a place like hairdresser would be:

  • Quería pedir hora / Quería pedir una cita

"Quisiera concertar una cita" is quite formal, we don't use it for hairdresser, maybe for doctor or something like that

Informal: Quisiera pedir hora.

Formal: Quisiera concertar una cita.

(Llego tarde, lo s?)

"Quisiera hacer una cita" seems like the most polite way to ask for an appointment. "Me gustaría hacer una cita" or " Tengo que hacer una cita" sounds ok to me. I'm not a native speaker.

Good question and very necessary for practical life. I often say, "quisiera una cita" and it gets the job done but I'll wait for someone that has a lot more Spanish than me to answer this one.

However, this flashcard set was made from words my Spanish teacher gave me to help me out when I actually arrived at the 'cita'. I like my flashcards to be accurate so if anyone sees any mistakes or can give me words to add, I would welcome that.

it is not clear on the set if you mean infinitive or command, as you are not consistent with that. - 00494d19, Jan 23, 2012
Thanks Heidita. - katydew, Jan 23, 2012
Maybe Katy and others also need guidance as to which is locally acceptable, that is whether a command (imperative) will simply produce an instant refusal. - geofc, Oct 30, 2012
