Based on my diveboat experience and not my Spanish I will take a shot at this one. Boté la panga= Launch the inflatable boat. A Panga as I know it to be is a small (Zodiak) rubber boat often used on the larger live-aboard dive boats.

Hmm , I also just noticed your nickname which sort of confirms the boat theory. - Yeser007, Jan 22, 2012
well that sounds even better...... - 00434ec3, Jan 22, 2012
an upvote for you Yeser ;-) - 00434ec3, Jan 22, 2012
Yeser you are absolutetly correct :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panga_(boat) .A note: they are the type of boats used by the Somali pirates. - faliron, Jan 22, 2012
In baja a rubber boat like a zodiac is called a lancha. - gringojrf, Jan 22, 2012

Hi marineroloco,

I didn't know the answer either but the translator returned panga as a lighter.

panga (Centroamérica) (México) (lancha) barge; lighter; (transbordador) ferry(boat);

In that case it would mean: I dropped the lighter. But please wait for more comments.

@kiwi....you probably know best :-) please correct me if I am wrong. Please do! - 00434ec3, Jan 22, 2012
The "lighter" is a type of boat / ship - so it would be difficult to drop one mi6 :) - ian-hill, Jan 22, 2012
well, well, well, I failed totally. I thought I could help but it turned out to be a maximum failure. back to basic :-( sorry marineroloco, - 00434ec3, Jan 22, 2012
MI6 you should have left your answer, right or wrong it was a good attempt. - Yeser007, Jan 22, 2012
changed it back, Yeser, you're right. But it seemed like horror when I read it afterwards - 00434ec3, Jan 22, 2012

A panga is a fibreglass boat anywhere from 15 to 30 feet in length. It is open like a rowboat but is powered by outboard engines. It is used all over the Sea of Cortez and Baja as a fishing vessel. They are reasonable inexpensive and are made locally in Baja.

You've come up with a good one! My 3-inch-thick Barron's Spanish-English Dictionary doesn't even list it. However, I did find it in an old "post" where someone said that in some countries La Panga refers to certain types of fish

Cheers.
