Se, or its appropriate form refers to the performer of the action in infinitive verbs that end in se or sometimes in general.

So, for instance, you could say: "Ella quiere hacer un pastel. Por eso, se prepara la masa." In this case se means she.

You could say te prepara, which would mean you prepare, or you could say me prepara which means I prepare.

Se also means they.

So, the correct translation of se is just whoever is doing it, I/me, he, she, they, etc.

'One' when you don't want to say who's doing something - we usually say 'you' in English even if we don't actually mean the one to whom we are speaking

se prepara - one prepares or you prepare
