When I used the expression "para ella y mí", a native speaker said that although "para ella y para mí" would have been correct, the correct form with two objects would be "para ella y yo". If she was correct, I'd like to know why.

"Me" and "I" are frequently misused in English in similar kinds of circumstances.

For instance, it wouldn't be uncommon to hear someone say "They gave the books to her and I." Because the I is separated from the preposition "to", it gets easier to make this mistake. One would never say, "They gave the book to I."

I think that's what's happening in this case. And I see no reason why it could be correct to say "para ella y yo."
