How do you say "ballpoint needle"?
So I know "needle" is aguja, but I need to ask (in Costa Rica) for what is known in the US as a "ballpoint needle," specifically for knit fabrics. Are knits called "tejidos"?

I always like Wikipedia for things like this. If you can find a Wikipedia article on your specific subject, there's often a Spanish-language article on the same subject. You can change the language using links on the left-hand side of the screen.
In this case, English Wikipedia says a ballpoint needle is also called a 'bodkin', but there's no specific article for bodkins. Both the English and Spanish articles for 'Sewing Needle' list a bunch of different types of needle. Maybe someone can tell us which needle type is the same in both descriptions.

Aguja de hacer punto/ tejer / de tricotar.
Knitwear can be prendas de punto, jerseys de lano, ropa de lano natural...

Unfortunately, I am not convinced a bodkin needle (for quilting by hand?) is the same as a ballpoint needle for a sewing machine for knit fabrics, but in case it is any help, I will add this link.:
Bodkin needle
- aguja colchonera; Synonyms: quilting needle, tufting needle
