Andando o Montando

Question

How would you ride a bicycle? In my workbook (Mexican) it says andar, but the dictionary translates it as montar.

Andar seems to work fine so long as you use the preposition en.

Montar en also works.

Andar is a multi-purpose verb. It is used for most transportation. Walking, riding the bus, flying. Clocks "andar" in Spanish even though they "correr" in English.

It is also used instead of estar in some cases, though it doesn't mean estar. Instead it is like in English when we say "walking around confused" things like that, except they are more liberal in their use of andar than we are of "to walk."

So what I'm saying is, both are right. Montar is just a more rigid verb while andar is flexible so it can be used in a lot of different situations besides riding things.
