I really hate the 200 reputation point limit.

I hate seeing all those zeros accumulate on my reputation page.

Anybody think the limit should be raised?

Or at least changed to a calendar day midnight to midnight. That way every morning we start from scratch. But then, whose midnight do we use? GMT?

Would that be fair to those who earned their points under the old limit? - 0074b507, Jan 13, 2012
Why not? From here on, everybody would be earning the same! - farallon7, Jan 13, 2012
Maybe they could hire someone to go back and add up all our zeros in order to reimburse us Quentin. :) - Nicole-B, Jan 13, 2012
I'll do it. A thousand zeros = zero. Done. - gringojrf, Jan 13, 2012

Yeah, but then Heidita would be at 990K, and I'd like to get to at least 50K before that happens smile

I can't even imagine what would happen to those who are inclined to enjoy racking up points. They would never see the light of day again!!! wink

When you reach 200 rep points in a day it's time to earn some learn points!

Join the club mate! It doesn't make sense at all! After all, that is time, knowledge and service we are giving for free! It shouldn't be that way!

  • Everybody, let's get this thread going to make a bold statement!

If you answer a question when you are at the limit you get zero and then later when your points are down for the 24 hours and you have room you are sleeping. - gringojrf, Jan 13, 2012
I know! I had to skip yesterday because I kept on getting "0's" Good thread man! - farallon7, Jan 13, 2012

This is interesting. It didn't occurr to me that people do this to earn points, seriously! I do this because answering and researching questions helps me improve my Spanish. I think this rule is intended to protect the mental health of people who post here. After 200 points, it's time to get on with your life!

Only important up to 4K for less ads. - gringojrf, Jan 13, 2012
Oh, believe me! I found the same thing out a year or so ago, when I finally discovered, much to my surprise, that a number of people have developed serious techniques for maximizing the number of points they can get with the minimum effort. It's wild! - Gekkosan, Jan 13, 2012
Well, I am not trying to maximize points with lame answers, although some might. - gringojrf, Jan 13, 2012
Seriously? How do you do that? - Jeremias, Jan 13, 2012
You ask questions like Where are you from? and hope that 200 people respond. - 0074b507, Jan 13, 2012

I went through several phases of acceptance and rejection of the 200-point limit. It's not hard to reach 200 points. But if you want to gain reputation (relative to everybody else, of course), this limit rewards people who participate every day, rather than those who visit irregularly. I appreciate how much it helps my gaining knowledge and experience to remain in contact with Spanish exercises and interplay on a daily basis.

When I stop moving forward, I begin to move backwards... smile

Now I've noticed that I am still getting the 10 pts for my answers, but no points for voting for someone elses... That is very strange... what exactly is the 200 point limit from? I'm so confused! but that's not anything new!

YOu can only earn 10 pts/day voting up others. - 0074b507, Jan 13, 2012
There is a seperate max 10 for voting (10 votes), but it seems to be knocked out other ways, I have never really worried about it because I don't care about those votes. - Stadt, Jan 13, 2012

It can NOT be 200 points a day.. I never vote that much or earn that many for my answers/questions. I don't care what time zone they use, but I would prefer it was a standard time for the 24 hour period.. and I don't mind a limit...but it doesn't appear to be 200 a day.
I also don't care if SD doesn't give us credit for past "O" points. Just start getting it right now, please!
