I'm getting a headache reading small grey font on white.

On the old site, the Black comments on Grey background was hard enough, but at least it served a purpose of making the boundary between posts very obvious. Now we have a grey-on-white dotted line between posts, which is almost invisible to me, and certainly useless.

I'm not expecting the site to be designed specifically for people with aging eyesight, but it would be nice to view a website that didn't tire my eyes quickly. smile

Do you know how to make your font bigger on your screen? - SunnyGeek, Jan 14, 2012
I do now!!! but I didn't need to before :) :P ,Good point Geeky - pintor, Jan 14, 2012
The easiest way to make things bigger on screen is to hold down the Ctrl key then use the scroll on your mouse. - MaryMcc, Jan 14, 2012

One thing I just noticed is that by my avatar in the upper right hand corner, the 3 categories of points, badges and reputations is not there anymore. I have to go to my profile for that. I like to have it there no matter what page I am on so I can see the points go up... it helps me know when to go check to see if I need to do revision of my posts. Have I missed it in a new location?

No Katy, you only have to mouse over your avatar to see your points. - Yeser007, Jan 13, 2012
I did that on the new site but it didn't come up. I'll try again. - katydew, Jan 13, 2012
I was discouraged about the 3 categories not showing, but Gary, I did move the cursor over my avatar and I see those numbers, now. Thanks to both of you. - bandit51jd, Jan 15, 2012

I notice the new unanswered posts aren't in brown anymore. I think that should have remained for more visibility. Good vis is very important to mewink

It's different.

I'm not sure the "little" formatting changes add much, but we can get used to it.

The answers each begin with "Asked by..." - but these are not Questions, but really "Answers" or "Responses". I would rather see the the user name first, right next to the avatar - No need for useless text like Asked by.

What happened to the character boxes under the compose window?

á é í ó ú ü ñ ¿ ¡

I'm often not at a computer with a multi-language keyboard and it's a great help for me to have these.

If those are gone that is a major loss- I am not allowed a keyboard with those at work. :-( - Stadt, Jan 13, 2012
I've come to rely on the Alt + commands for those characters... I have a little sticky note on my desk with a list of them all. - hollyjollyberry, Jan 13, 2012

I am enjoying the practice section under grammar.

My eyes would appreciate a change in color for the text of all the small details about Q&A posts. Categories, views, last updated. This greyish color is a strain for me to read at such a small size.

6 hours later....

Ok, this is really nice. Six hours after my first post, a lot of what initially bugged me has been fixed. Evidently the developer guys are paying attention, and they're doing a great job of tuning up as the comments pour in. It is good to see the effort being applied.

I am much, much happier now than I was six hours ago, that's for sure.

I still wish that the avatar icons in the Q&A section were larger (they're rather useless at the current size), and that the smileys came back to the edit box. But I can definitely use it the way it is now. Good job!

Uhm...

It's hard to tell which questions are unanswered.

alt text Old SD made it easy to tell...the red really stands out.

alt text New SD uses blue, which blends it with everything else

One of the most frequent things I usually do when I see a post to read is to learn the following things:

  1. Who wrote it?

  2. When was it posted?

  3. Was it edited since posting?

  4. Who edited it last?

  5. When was it last edited?

In the old SD, I could learn all of this at a glance.

I have to agree with Pesta here. All this information is very useful/important to know and it was easier when it was all grouped so that I could read it in one glance. That said, I do like having the poster's avatar & name at the top left in clear view (although it does take some of the fun out of trying to guess who wrote the post as I'm reading it hehe). The old edit notice was much easier to read. I can barely find it under the new system.

I can't comment on any of the visuals (font, colors, etc.) because I've got my browsers set up to override MS colors and fonts. Instead I've got a blue/gray background and Arial black font. Much easier on the eyes, although it does make navigating certain features difficult because they are invisible unless you mouse over them for the tag!

percent of the time. Keep practicing! Want to try again and see if you can reach 90 percent correct?

O M G, I need to keep practisingbig surprise

Well, this shows, my Spanish sucks. raspberry Yours is much better, so depressing.

Well, bromas aparte, there are many mistakes in this particular quiz, I would say , tons .

El _alto (??)__ hotel ___ está cerca de la ópera. (The high-class hotel is near the opera.)

Tiene ___ libros ___ por García-Máquez? (Does he have any books by García-Máquez?)

___ padres ___ son de Chino. (My parents are from China.)

Hay un ___ error ___ en este parafo. (There is a mere error in this paragraph.)

I am sorry, but there are too many mistakes. These are only four.
