The DIfference
How is American Spanish different from original Spanish? Give me an example.

¡Hola Boraheo y bienvenida al foro!
There are probably entire books written on this subject, and I'll bet not one of them covers it adequately!
First, what do you mean by American Spanish? The Americas - South, Central, and North - cover a lot of territory and encompass about 24 countries. That count does not include the various island nations and territories where Spanish is spoken. (Brazil, of course, has Portuguese as it official language.) Each country has it's own dialects and idioms.
If you spend some time with the site dictionary, where the definitions are often identified by region, and do a search of the archived answers, you will discover a wealth of information on this subject. Just a few minute ago, someone asked this question. It's as good a place as any to start.
And with any luck, there will be a lot more discussion on the subject by native speakers, fluent speakers and other students, now that you have opened this thread. ![]()
