"to take up space"
How do you say "to take up space" in Spanish?
As in, for example:
If you allow me to attend the meeting, I promise to be an attentive participant in the discussion instead of just a body taking up space.
Si me permite a asistir la reunion, le prometo a ser una participante attentiva en la discusion en vez de ser solamente un cuerpo que ocupa espacio. (??)
Thank you!

I believe you are trying to say you're not simply going so as to be an extra body, but with the intention of adding to the meeting in a productive fashion, so the following came to mind:
- "ir de violinista"
- "(como) persona que hace mal tercio"
- "gorrón, gorrona"
So you don't want to be percieved as a freeloader or wallflower, but sincerely wish to be considered and welcomed....
