Gustar - to taste?
Our dictionary says as much and so does this song.
Cada vez que llueve ... Me mojo
Porque cada vez que llueve
I Fall To Pieces
Tantos recuerdos de la lluvia libera
Te siento ... Te gusto
No puedo olvidar
Cada vez que llueve ... Me mojo
Yes - they did not attempt to translate "I fall to pieces" and I will ask that next.
But - Every time it rains....... I get wet........
Cuz everytime it rains.... I Fall To Pieces
So many memories the rain releases.......
I feel........ I taste you.......
I can NOT forget........
(Cuz) Everytime it rains....... I get....... wet..........
See? Gustar ...... taste........ is it oddly used, our dictionary pans it out........ is it gustar like in it's "me gusta etc..." seems to be more like "saber" to taste
Te siento, te sé.........
a difference.... yes saber means to taste too if you don't know.
Gracias.

I always wondered about the evolution of the word gustar. It seems to be derived from the Latin gustare "to taste; to take a little of." From this origin comes, in English, gustation; gustatory; and gusto. Every time I see a verb form of "gustar" I think "taste." It always throws me a little. Lazarus would have a field day with this....
Check out this link: Definicion de Gustar - ¿qué es Gustar? www.alegsa.com.ar/Definicion/de/gustar.php
According to this definition, "te gusto" would be "I taste you" or "I savor you"...just a thought.
When gustar is used as a transitive verb, it has a meaning like saborear and querer.
¿Gustas tomar algo? o ¿Quieres tomar algo? Lo mismo.
I meant to add that, using it as a transitive verb, te gusto is certainly I taste you.
