Boceto & Garabato - Common in MX?

I was just wondering if the words boceto and garabato are used much Mexico. =)

Also, can the word "garabatos" be used for the "scribbles" or "doodles" that someone draws when they are bored (stick people, random shapes and patterns, text...) ?

Thanks again! =)

I don't know about specific uses in Mexico, but everywhere I have been, "boceto" means sketch, and "garabato", means doodle, or scribble, as you already seem to understand.

Both are common words in all Spanish speaking countries, as far as I can tell.

Had to ask... one person told me that "boceto" was not used here. - NikkiLR, Jan 12, 2012
I wonder what word they use for sketch, then? - Gekkosan, Jan 13, 2012
Well, I asked my hubby and he said that it was used here... - NikkiLR, Jan 13, 2012
I am not sure why my friend said it wasn't... >.< He is Mexican too. - NikkiLR, Jan 13, 2012
