Hola a todo! Acabo de unirme anoche. Estoy in mi segundo semestre de español.

I do, however, have a lot of work to do. The good thing is that I'm an excellent English writer and speaker, so it goes easy. The bad thing is that I live in Central PA, and there's not many native Spanish speakers (In fact, I don't know a single one that's comfortable talking in Spanish around non-Spanish speakers!)

http://www.laits.utexas.edu/spe/index.html

I think you're exactly right. I can read aloud quite quickly, but if i hear myself, i kinda start laughing. I sound like a country hick trying to speak Spanish. I don't consider myself to have an accent... until I try to be bilingual!

Sorry! Johnnie was right, PA stands for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

As they say here, "It's a PA thing..."

Don't you think the hardest part of trying to learn Spanish is listening to it, because it is spoken so much faster than English? Spanish is like spoken cursive writing. The words flow so easily and quickly together, so you really have to be a good listener to understand and keep up with Spanish.
