For "to vacuum" can I just say "aspirar"? or do I need to say, "pasar la aspiradora"?

Both are correct (at least for me).
Like "voy a aspirar el cuarto" or "voy a pasar la aspiradora por el cuarto".

According to the dictionary you could. It says Aspirar: 1 to suck 2. to vacuum. So it's probably a personal/regional preference.
