Hacer versus Estar in weather
Why do you use "hacer" with some words and "estar" with other words when describing weather? Examples: Hay va a HACER calor and Hoy va a ESTAR nublado. When do you know when to use "hacer" and when to use "estar"?

Hacer/hay+noun idioms or Estar+adjective expressions or simply verbs related to weather don't seem to follow any rule for deciding between them. The expressions/idioms/verbs must be learned for each context.
