how is the "bien" used here?

Espezó a obtener unos resultados mas bien flojos . This should be a expresion about ¨worse ¨ but i can´t figure out how is the ¨bien¨ used here? so hope someone can help to explain ,thanks

Bien can be used as an intensifying adverb to mean very, which is the case here.

Canta bien mal, He sings really badly. This would be the same useage as your example.

Do you mean "empezó". I began to get some results that were pretty loose (relaxed)

actually i mean"mas bien flojos" , i see your translation is "pretty" ,so this should be the point . but can i say "bien insuperable" or bien duro which means pretty hard or something? - songleishiyulin, Jan 9, 2012
