Advice for writing better songs in Spanish?

I am a songwriter and also a linguist, and I would love to better my Spanish songs and poetry! Any tips?

Speak your mind and be honest. Don't write in English and then translate, just write in Spanish. Have a reason for writing, something you want to tell someone. You know, simple things.
It's not too hard, just be real : D

Well, I write poetry in Spanish, and the best thing to do is read poems or listen to songs from popular artists / poets.
My favorite poets are Quevedo and Octavio Paz.
