Book translation
Hi friends,
I love this group and all of the resources to learn Spanish. My wife has illustrated and authored a children's book which we have published. Our original goal (and still is) is to publish it in Espanol. Is someone out there up for a challenge such as this? We can't pay anything, but will give credit in the book.

Let me begin by saying that I am a professional translator (not in Spanish), which affects my viewpoint.
You have heard that "you get what you pay for," and that is never more true than in translation. While I can certainly sympathize with your not wanting to spend a lot for a translation that probably won't earn you much money, I doubt that you will be happy if your wonderful book is badly translated. While there are likely many people who would do this for you for free, either out of kindness or for practice, if you really want a polished translation that reflects the true intent of your English words, and not just their literal meaning, you need to find a good professional and pay.
Pay can come in various forms, two of which are a flat fee and a royalty agreement. If the book has potential for sales, the translator might be willing to do the job in exchange for a percentage of the proceeds. There are many other options and combinations, but good translators don't usually want to work for free, and I'm sure you wouldn't want to do your job for free, either.
You wouldn't ask for volunteers to fix your car or your plumbing, and you shouldn't trust your "baby" to an amateur, either.
In my humble opinion, that is.
