I know that OK can be translated as está bien in Spanish, but is it acceptable to just say "OK"? Do the natives use this expression?

You can also say;

All these are used as synonyms for O.K.

Vale is very commonly used in Spain for OK either as a statement or question and by bankers and solicitors as well as on the street. - caza, Jan 5, 2012

Actually, I have heard natives say "OK", but with an accent obviously =) It sounds a bit different than the "American OK". (México)

I have also seen it spelled:

  • OK
  • Okey
  • Okay

I could only find "okey" in the tubabel.com dictionary, though.

Actually, I never used this expression while speaking Spanish in my native country until I came to the U.S. I guess it is common in certain countries to use it and even to write it. Is it okay? Certainly not! But it would be very difficult to mandate it! I guess it all depends in the quality of Spanish you want to write and speak. I know English is very open to introduce foreign words and Spanish is very reluctant to do so. I prefer a purer Spanish. English has become even more difficult because of all the new, foreign words. A few options for "okay" in Spanish could include: Listo, de acuerdo, está bien, claro, ajá!

It's not in the RAE anyway. But there are 2,240,000 results on google for "está ok" within inverted comas so it must be used by at least some natives. It's wiggled it's way into a lot of languages, it's a very useful word!

In my travels in Mexico, depending on what you're trying to mean by "OK", there are several things you can say:

"que bien" = "that's good" or "it's OK" "no problema" = "no problem"

In several borders towns, I have heard "OK" from the locals, but only when speaking to gringos.
