I thought it meant "I am eating the pen," but that doesn't really make a lot of sense.... tongue laugh Thanks!

It means ' I think I've posted a bad answer on the internet and now I can't do anything about it so I'm going to pieces.'

Oh my... that's precious & ever so funny! Good thing s/he isn't attempting to eat the keyboard! :) - cristalino, Jan 5, 2012

How about something as easy as I'm chewing on my ballpoint? =

So basically, a nervous reaction, deep in thought or just killing time?

Hm, I have never heard that expression! It literally says. "I am eating the pen". I have heard and used the expression, "Me estoy comiendo las uñas" or "Estoy comiéndome las uñas" (I'm eating my finger nails) which means, that I am very nervous, impatient, etc.

I know this expression and it usually means what I've posted, but context would confirm it. - 00e657d4, Jan 5, 2012
It does make sense! It is probably a new expression since I got out of H.S. I guess, I am not a teenager anymore. : ( - farallon7, Jan 5, 2012

I may mean "I'm using up the pen."

This may just mean "I'm very nervous/impatient". Context would help.
