I work in a convenience store. Many bilingual persons come in to buy items. I try to respond to the Spanish speaking customers in Spanish, but when they ask me if I "hable espanol", I don't know the right response.

Is the response "un pequeno" or is the response "un poco"?

Incidentally, if some of your customers are "bilingual" as you say (Spanish-English), they could be very helpful in assisting you with basic conversation, assuming they're aren't in too big a hurry! Bienvenido al foro... :) - cristalino, Jan 4, 2012

They are asking ¿ Habla usted español? Your reply could either be yes or no which would be "Sí, yo hablo español" or " No. No hablo español "

A little means different things to different people. You will be expected to converse at a level maybe beyond your ability. - kmaakheru, Jan 4, 2012

How about "un poquito."

Really depends on how much you grasp or are able to carry on with a native speaker... even saying "un poquito (a tiny bit)" may be inferred by some that you are conversational at the very least... so it just goes back to your level of comprehension, which, judging from your query, may be at its earliest stages... you may be better off telling them you're attempting to learn Spanish and would appreciate their help and/or patience (in español of course!) confused

Either way, you've come to the right place, my friend!
