Verb to explode?

I'm writing about a film and I want to say the following: "The train exploded"
But I can't find the verb to use for explode. Is it explotar, explosionar, estallar?

Estallar could certainly be used in that context.
Bomba estalla en Santiago

Explotar, o hacer explosión would be two good options. I think estallar is more to explode emotionally.
