This is great for large, but if you mean "they are great, they aren't boring or serious" then you might want to say:
Tengo una gran familia, no es aburrido o no toman las cosas con seriedad.
Saying "No es serio/a" means they are not responsible.

We can only assume the subject of the 2nd sentence. If it is Mi familia then the adjectives must match the noun (familia...singular, feminine) in gender and number: aburrida y seria.
